50 years of a Sacred Calling

The entire Vancouver Jewish Community is invited to join us on Friday, March 28th as we celebrate Rabbi Philip Bregman’s 50th Anniversary as a Rabbi.
It was 50 years ago this spring that Rabbi Bregman was ordained as a rabbi by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR). To say the world, let alone the Jewish world, has never been the same since is an understatement. His leadership, his passion, his empathy, and his inspiring presence have guided our community for nearly half a century. We are blessed and grateful.
In honour of this truly historic occasion, Temple Sholom will be holding two special events to celebrate our beloved Rabbi Emeritus:
SPECIAL SHABBAT DINNER WITH RABBI BREGMAN,
CATHY AND THEIR FAMILY
FRIDAY, MARCH 28 AT 6:00 PM AT TEMPLE SHOLOM
Together we will hear stories and share in the warmth and appreciation we all feel for Rabbi Bregman's years of leadership and compassion.
Cost: $90 per person
Dinner reservation is required - REGISTER FOR DINNER HERE
SHABBAT SERVICE IN HONOUR OF RABBI BREGMAN
FRIDAY, MARCH 28 AT 8:00 PM AT TEMPLE SHOLOM
Our Klay Kodesh will share their own reflections on Rabbi Bregman’s rabbinic leadership, Rabbi Bregman will deliver the drash, and a festive Oneg will follow the service.
Please RSVP for the Oneg below to ensure we have enough food for everyone. You can also volunteer via the form to bake and bring a dessert (perhaps one of Rabbi Bregman’s favourite desserts, or an alternative of your choosing).
The registration forms above also include the option to contribute a Tzedakkah donation and send a message to Rabbi Bregman in honour of his 50th Anniversary in the rabbinate. These donations will be directly allocated to the Temple Sholom Adult Education Fund, to enhance education for our congregation and our community, including visiting speakers/scholars, school programs, adult education series and curricular materials - a fund particularly important to Rabbi Bregman and the ongoing sacred mission of our synagogue.
