Mitzvah Day 2013

Sunday, November 3rd, 9:30am to 12:00pm at Temple Sholom

Mitzvah Day Collections
MitzvahDayThe Temple Sholom Teens visited Lookout Housing Society in the Downtown Eastside and were so impressed with the work that they do. They operate 20 buildings that provide shelter and transitional and supportive housing to more than 1400 homeless people every night.

The holidays are a special time for everyone and a chance for us to give a gift to those in need. Temple Teens are leading a campaign to help Lookout collect enough items to make a Comfort Bag and give a New Gift to each one of their clients. Below is a list of the items that we are collecting. You’ll notice that the list is not full of fancy items, but rather the very basic items that everyone needs. Since the holidays are a special time of year, we ask that all items donated be NEW as they will be wrapped and given as a gift. They can be from your home that you’ve been storing or collecting, or samples from a hotel, or bought just for this, but all items donated must be new.

We’d like every single Temple Sholom family to get involved so we can collect enough gifts. Bins are in the front lobby for donations and can be dropped off anytime. The main day to donate is from 9:30am to Noon on Mitzvah Day, Sunday, November 3rd from 9:30am to Noon.
