During the summer of 2015 a delegation of Temple Sholom members visited Tzur Hadassah, a young Israeli Reform congregation located in the Judean Hills around 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) west of Jerusalem and within the 1967 borders of Israel.
After meeting with this wonderful congregation and their Rabbi Stacey Blank we brought back a recommendation that Temple Sholom officially partner with them as our sister congregation. In November 2015 at Temple Sholom’s Extraordinary General Meeting those present engaged in a Skype conversation with Rabbi Blank and afterwards voted unanimously to adopt Tzur Hadassah as our sister congregation in Israel.
It is an exciting opportunity to partner with a vibrant and progressive congregation and community in the heart of Israel. Through this partnership we will make pilgrimages to Tzur Hadassah on Temple trips, share programs, learning and support each other in our mission of spreading Reform Judaism and Ahavat Yisrael (Love for Israel) in our communities.
