Sisterhood Volunteer Opportunities
There are so many events and programs to choose from, and we are always looking for fresh items and new faces! If you are interested in volunteering for these or other upcoming Sisterhood events, please contact Sisterhood through email: sisterhood@templesholom.ca.
• Supporting the WISH Drop in Centre
Sisterhood is collecting donations of the following items for WISH (Women’s Information Safe Haven), which may be dropped off at Temple on an ongoing basis in the marked drop off basket in the Temple foyer:
Women’s hats, socks, tights, new or nearly new bras, umbrellas, toiletries (including new and gently used cosmetics, hair and body products).
Sisterhood sorts and delivers the items to WISH from time to time.
• Sisterhood Social Action Projects
Work with this Sisterhood committee to assist in selection, planning and carrying out some of Sisterhood's Tzedakah projects, such as the "Bedtime Kits for Kids" or "Soup in the Kitchen".

• Membership Development
Join this
Sisterhood committee to assist with promoting Sisterhood, including ideas for the Bulletin Board and the Sisterhood pages of the Shofar, assembling new Temple members gift packs, Chanukah gift packs, designing brochures and flyers, reviewing applications for the annual "Jan Pollock Volunteer Recognition Award" and much more.

• Autumn Fling
Help to organize and promote our annual fall social, which includes live music, dancing, silent auction and a dessert buffet. This is our major fundraiser of the year. Volunteers are needed for ticket sales coordination, silent auction solicitations and set up, decorations, raffle sales and door prizes.

Assist with organizing, participate in the service as a reader and/or join the Sisterhood choir.

Donate Women’s Business Clothing & Accessories and/or Volunteer Once a Month
Cleaning out your Closets?
Support this international organization which assists women returning to the workforce, by providing them with an interview outfit. Our Sisterhood helps the Vancouver branch of Dress for Success by collecting women's business-suitable clothing and accessories, delivering them to the sorting center and providing volunteers once a month to assist women choose their outfits.
Sisterhood has a drop off rack in the Temple garage for items which would be suitable to wear to a business interview. Business suits, dresses, skirts, slacks, jackets and blazers, costume jewellery, blouses and tops, shoes, scarves, handbags and watches are very much needed, particularly size 18 and up.

When: Last Wednesday of each month
Where: Dress for Success offices, Mezzanine, 675 West Hastings Street, Downtown Vancouver
Time: from about 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. including driving time
Cost: Transportation cost only
