Kehilateinu
Kehilateinu, is Temple Sholom's LGBTQIA+ Pride club. Co-presidents Danny Lybbert and Cae Rosch Sandeen, along with the support of board member Kim Werker and Cantor Shani Cohen, are working together to organize a gender-inclusive addition to Temple Sholom’s community group offerings.
Kehilateinu will welcome LGBTQIA+ community members and their friends, family, and allies for social, educational, and philanthropic events aimed at fostering camaraderie among those on this unique path through Jewish life. The group will function, alongside Sisterhood and Men’s Club, as a third pillar of support and community to enhance the already-rich social fabric those groups have established at Temple Sholom.

The Jewish Book Festival presents: Sons of Survivors with Aron Hirt-Manheimer
The Jewish Book Festival presents Sons of Survivors: Making Peace with Inherited Trauma with Aron Hirt-ManheimerTwo lifelong friends uncover their families’ long-hidden Holocaust history, confronting silence, reclaiming memory, transforming inherited trauma into a powerful legacy of love. The authors of this dual memoir were conceived in the same Displaced Persons camp in occupied Germany, and grew up in the close-knit community of Yiddish-speaking refugees in America.
Though the Holocaust formed the backdrop of their lives, they didn’t talk much about it - until, as older adults, they embraced the imperative to bear witness, and set out to discover everything that happened to their families in Poland. Navigating through this haunted terrain, the friends realized that the love they inherited from their parents transcends the trauma.Aron Hirt-Manheimer was described by Elie Wiesel as "a writer possessed of a rare blend of integrity, persuasiveness, and good literary sense." He is the author of several history books, founder of the Davka magazine, and editor of the Reform Judaism magazine.
Books will be available for sale and signing by the author.

Join us as we mark the one-year anniversary of Generations After, VHEC programming for descendants, at a special event in partnership with Temple Sholom synagogue.
Holocaust survivors will join second-, third- and fourth-generation descendants for an evening of storytelling and connection. This intergenerational gathering provides a special opportunity for survivors to share their hopes for preserving memory, education and legacy, and for descendants to consider what it means to carry these stories forward—within families, communities and future generations.
The program will feature remarks from survivors and descendants, as well as a survivor panel discussion, followed by light refreshments and time to connect with one another.
