Housing As We Age: a Social Worker’s Perspective on Advance Care Planning

Have you ever worried about who would speak for you if suddenly you had a critical health event and you were no longer able to make decisions for yourself? Would you want all efforts made to sustain your life? Are there any skills or abilities that are so critical to you that you wouldn’t want to live without? What sorts of trade offs might you be willing to undergo for the possibility of more time? Who would make these decisions and what might get in the way of you receiving the type of care that you’d want in the situation at hand?

There are actually several things that you can do to set yourself up to ensure that you receive the type of care you’d want for yourself should you be unable to speak for yourself.

Come meet with fellow Temple Sholom community members and Social Workers Jenny Hyman (MSW, RSW) and Debbie Litvack (MSW, RSW) to hear about how to set yourself up to receive the care you’d want for yourself. Through storytelling and clear information and resources, Jenny and Deb are sure to engage you in a surprisingly interesting discussion that will equip you with information to plan for your own futures. Open to adults of all ages and abilities!
